RCSLT Honours 2008

For the past 62 years, the RCSLT has given annual honours awards. To date there have been over 300 recipients. Anyone, from a newly-qualified therapist to an individual with many years of experience, can receive an honour, provided they meet the entry criteria.

There are three categories of award:

Honours are given for distinguished service to the RCSLT, for example as a member of Council, assisting in developing policy, or for representing the RCSLT with other professional and allied organisations.They also acknowledge excellence in service to the benefit others, for example as an officer or member of a recognised specific interest group, or as an outstanding clinician

Fellowships are given to members for outstanding scholarship, in areas such as research and publishing; teaching; clinical expertise or management.

Honorary Fellowships
are given to non- and overseas SLTs who have contributed outstanding services to the profession can receive these awards.There are three categories for distinguished service:
  • To the RCSLT, for example as a lay member on an RCSLT committee, assisting in policy or liaising with other professional organisations on behalf of College
  • In promoting the profession, for example in the charitable sector or to the public, or in other professional and allied organisations
  • Iin, for example, research, teaching or clinical practice
An honours committee discusses the nominations and make recommendations to the RCSLT Council in early summer. The Council decides on the year's recipients at its summer meeting.

The RCSLT honours roll call 1945 to the present day
