The RCSLT seeks nominations for the following Council posts, as the present post holders are coming to end of their terms of office or the posts have become vacant.

Deputy Honorary Treasurer

Do you have skills in budget setting, financial analysis and reporting? Would you like to gain or improve your experience by taking an important role in the governance and financial management of your professional body? We seek a member to support the Honorary Treasurer and the Finance and Organisational Resource Board (FORB). You will work closely with the Head of Performance and Contracts on financial matters relating to RCSLT business. This is for a two-year term of office, starting in September 2008. You will serve for two years as the Deputy Honorary Treasurer on the FORB, followed by two years as Honorary Treasurer and member of the RCSLT Council.

Councillor for Service Management

Are you an experienced manager? Can you help the RCSLT lead members through changes in commissioning and SLT service management? We are looking for a member to work closely with managers in the UK and with officers at the RCSLT, defining a clear vision for the future of management within the profession and providing oversight for the development of RCSLT policies relating to service management issues. You will chair the RCSLT management board. This is a casual vacancy, starting from the date of election to September/October 2009.

The Membership and Communications Board

The M&C Board has vacancies for the following enthusiastic members: SLTs from each of the four UK countries; those working in the independent/charity sector; specialist advisers; SIG Chairs; managers; researchers newly-qualified practitioners student and retired members.

The Board aims to create a consistent approach to:
  • The development of a communications strategy and communications plan that will determine the RCSLT's approach to communicating with members, officers and other stakeholders
  • Research that informs the development of the communications strategy and communications activities
  • Membership development
  • Customer care - dealing with enquiries from members
  • Development of the RCSLT brand and a media relations strategy in support of the RCSLT communications strategy
  • Supporting the development of networks of members and key stakeholder groups that will inform the development of communication programmes, information services, the RCSLT's policy and CPD initiatives
  • Income generated through RCSLT events and publications
  • Production of RCSLT publications
  • The organisation of RCSLT events and attendance at events supported by the RCSLT
Board meetings take place four times a year, normally at the RCSLT headquarters in London, but may occasionally in other parts of the country with the board's agreement. Members will join the board for a period or two years in the first instance.

The Finance and Organisational Resources Board

The FORB aims to:
  • Implement the strategic objectives of the RCSLT within the functional areas of finance, performance and contracts, HR, IT and health and safety/buildings
  • Provide and develop professional leadership to implement the RCSLT strategy
  • Ensure the RCSLT complies with its governing documents, charity and company law, and other relevant legislation or regulations
  • Ensure probity and effectively monitor the financial and business performance of the RCSLT as an organisation
The FORB is seeking two new members. It meets four times a year, normally in London at the RCSLT HQ. The Board will also undertake consultation electronically when there are issues of urgency, which require a decision by Council.
