Why did the fees increase?
As we explained last year, there has been an increase in the cost of providing an increasing range of services to RCSLT members.
The income the RCSLT derives from recruitment advertisers buying space in the Bulletin and Bulletin Supplement significantly subsidises member services and the fees you pay.
During 2007 the impact of changes to the rules governing how the NHS advertises jobs and widespread recruitment freezes have continued to reduce the RCSLT's income from recruitment advertising.
Although the RCSLT is seeking to offset the decline in income by introducing product advertising in Bulletin and job advertising on the RCSLT website, these new sources of income cannot compensate for the continuing decline in recruitment advertising.
