Exploring the role of speech and language therapy in children's centres
This policy seminar and specific interest group offered delegates an opportunity to:
- gain an overview of the role of speech and language therapy in children's centres from the perspective of the RCSLT, Central Government and other SLTs
- share good pratcice at strategic, operational and practitioner levels
- network and share ideas with other SLTs working across the UK in children's centres
Kevin Woods from the Department for Children, Schools and Families and John Bercow MP attended.
The Learning outcomes for the day were as follows:
- For participants to develop awareness and understanding of the role of SLTs in Children's Centres within the wider context of government policy and the profession
- For participants to develop awareness of different ways in which SLT departments have embraced the Children's Centres agenda at the strategic and operational levels
- For examples of good practice at the practitioner level to be shared and discussed
- For practitioner participants to discuss ways in which they might develop their practice and profile within Children's Centres
