Scope seeks views of communication aid specialists on future equipment provision
National disability charity Scope is aiming to find out the scale of the current crisis affecting communication equipment users by launching the second phase of its research project.
Last year's research focused on the experiences of people who use or could benefit from communication equipment and found many people with communication impairments are denied the equipment they need to communicate because of patchy, inadequately funded service provision across the country.
This year's survey targeted professionals and statutory agents, such as SLTs, and people involved in the commissioning, assessment, provision and support of alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) services.
The research will provide a better picture of current provision and support services for communication aid users in the UK and encourage the Government to take action.
The survey closed on 15 September 2008.
