HPC guidance on swine flu

Advice is available to SLTs on how to respond to any changes to their scope of practice that may occur during the swine flu pandemic.

The Health Professions Council (HPC) has issued a position statement and general information about swine flu.

It states that in an emergency situation, such as the pandemic, allied health professionals on its register may face special circumstances.

It offers guidance to registrants who might be asked to undertake additional tasks which would normally be outside their scope of practice.

The HPC advises them to continue to follow the Standards of Proficiency for their profession and refer to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in relation to three key areas.
