Speak up for Scotland: new lead links wanted
29th November 2005
Would you like to get more involved in the RCSLT's work in Scotland and influence what it can do for you and other SLTs?
The RCSLT Scotland board is looking for two new lead links, following the end of Anne Scott (southwest Scotland) and Jane Fox's (north Scotland) terms in post.
Lead links relay information to members in their region via email or mail, report to staff meetings when appropriate and act as points of contact for members to feedback views and comments to the RCSLT. The roles also involve attending quarterly Scotland board meetings. Any member working in the relevant region is eligible to become a lead link.
In a recent survey of RCSLT members, 76% of SLTs said they valued the vital role played by their lead links in relaying information.
Outgoing lead link Jane Fox, NHS Grampian professional head of speech and language therapy says, "The role allowed me to feel involved first hand with the work of the RCSLT and to make sure that the north is represented in the wider Scotland network. There is much still to in covering such a large area, but it is a very rewarding."
Lead links work in partnership with the speech and language therapy managers network and are supported by the RCSLT Scotland country councillor and policy officer. New lead links receive an induction, a comprehensive information pack and a list of all the established cascade links in their region. A full description of the role is available by application.
If you are interested in becoming the new southwest or north Scotland lead link, you can request an information pack from Sophie Dobson. Email: sophie.dobson@rcslt.org or tel: 0131 226 5250.
