Speech and language therapists ready to take control
For immediate release. Page one of one
Speech and language therapy leaders and managers will meet in York on 25-26 June, to discuss new ways of delivering their services in the face of overwhelming change in health, education and social care across the UK.
New ways of working, hosted by The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), will address the heart of the reform agenda and feature top keynote speakers including:
· Dr Pat Oakley, Director, Practices Made Perfect Ltd
· Laurie McMahon - Director, Loop 2 and NHS Policy Adviser to the Nuffield Hospitals
· Jonathan Tritter, Chief Executive, NHS Centre for Involvement
· Karen Middleton, Chief Health Professions Officer
· Professor Pam Enderby, Professor of Community Rehabilitation, Institute of General Practice and Primary Care
RCSLT CEO Kamini Gadhok says the conference represents a major step towards the profession taking control at a time of turbulence.
"The scale of change appears quite overwhelming to many professional groups, but speech and language therapists are stepping up and facing the challenge of how they will deliver services to meet the modernisation agenda, " Ms Gadhok says.
"This conference is about what the profession should be doing to retain its integrity and deliver what it knows it can do. It is also about how the RCSLT can facilitate its members to achieve this."
