Skills Mix

People
As much of your service cost is likely to be incurred through salaries, you should provide an overview of the skill mix in your team and the rationale for this mix, including illustration of how this mix enables you to provide a value-for-money service.

It is important to highlight your service's involvement in developing the skills of others who work with your client group but who don't work in your team or, perhaps, in the NHS. Nurses and learning support assistants, for example, commonly work with speech and language therapy teams, ensuring care is delivered effectively in a mix of settings to the greatest effect. You should identify how your service delivers value to patients and commissioners through this involvement with people who are employed outside your team.
