- Focus on the strengths and resources of the client, rather than dwelling on the problems.
- Be truly client centred, following the client’s lead.
- Work efficiently and effectively to help achieve positive outcomes, in relatively short time frames.
- Develop a collaborative approach through non-judgemental, open communication and mutual respect.
- Facilitate clients to notice increased confidence and signs of meaningful change in their lives.

- Consider relevant legislation and government drivers to support work as a health outcome and understand how the Equality Act (2010) may help people with disabilities in the workplace.
- Use of case studies and application of the biopsychosocial model to assess and manage neurological conditions within the context of work.
- Consider ‘invisible’ and ‘subtle’ disabilities (cognitive, cognitive communication, mood disturbance and fatigue difficulties) and how this impacts on work.
- Gain practical tips on identifying, communicating and negotiating reasonable adjustments with employers.
This course is well suited to those supporting people with complex neurological conditions. Whilst we will not be specifically addressing long-Covid, many symptoms align with neurological conditions and there will therefore be some useful learning for supporting this population vocationally.
