Context

  • The ACP working group consists of SLTs working in a range of settings and roles.
  • The group is developing guidance on making the case for SLT ACPs, identifying where an ACP SLT can make a difference to patient experience and how to encourage SLTs to consider the ACP career pathway.

Progress so far

  • The group has met twice so far in May and December 2019. 
  • The RCSLT position statement is available to download from page 11 of the guidance section here.
  • There was an ACP session at the RCSLT conference in September 2019. 
  • The group is collecting examples of ACP and consultant roles within the profession. 

Frameworks

  • England
  • Northern Ireland
  • Wales - Work is ongoing in Scotland to update earlier Frameworks to make them multi-professional
  • A new Advanced Clinical Practice Capabilities framework when working with people who have a learning disability and/or autism has been launched. This can be found here.
