Catherine Renfrew Memorial Award

This award honours the memory of Catherine Renfrew, who worked as an ambassador to the profession by raising the profile of speech and language therapy around the world.

Catherine's overseas travel meant a great deal to her and enabled her to forge many friendships and connections. She died in 2002.

This award gives an SLT the opportunity to follow in her footsteps by networking throughout the globe and broadening the horizons of speech and language therapy.

The award of £500 can be used to help fund a visit to a course or conference outside the UK and outside the therapist's country of employment. It aims to help the continuing professional development of the SLT, enabling them to forge links worldwide and share information with the global speech and language community.

The award winner has to have been an RCSLT member for two years prior to application, and for a year after the funded trip takes place.

Awarded every two years, the next deadline will be in Autumn 2019. Please see the links below for further details and an application form. Please send completed forms to grants@rcslt.org

Application form: please download and complete (100kb.doc)

Notes: further information and guidance for completing the form (55kb.pdf)

Please note that the application form and guidance notes are the same as for minor grants. You should indicate clearly either on the top of your form or in your covering letter that you are applying for the Catherine Renfrew Award. Where appropriate, please also mention if you wish your application to be considered in both categories (minor grant and CR award).

To donate to the fund, please send a cheque, payable to the RCSLT, writing Catherine Renfrew Memorial Award on the back.
