Help us build our next strategy

18 March 2026

The RCSLT will be running a survey until June 2026 to collect your thoughts about our next steps

As your membership body, it is important that the RCSLT is always working to make sure we’re supporting all SLTs across their professional lives. We want to be confident that we’re offering you the right tools, resources and backing at the right time, whether that’s through one-to-one support, bringing you the latest updates to best practice or looking wider at changes and trends in the health sector or society. We can only do this through your continued support and shared insights into the successes and challenges you face in your role.

In a constantly changing world, sharing your insights and thoughts about the future of speech and language therapy is more important now than ever. RCSLT’s new three-year strategy (2027-2030) is currently being developed, and we’re keen to hear from all members over the coming months to make sure we’re working together to help create a strong and sustainable future for the profession.

Shaping the RCLST’s future

Our next strategy will cover a three-year period instead of five, with the shorter timeframe allowing us to adapt more flexibly to the speed of change and opportunities which currently challenge the profession.

We want to make sure that our new strategy:

  • is member-centred, impactful, and future-facing
  • is focused on transparency, collaboration, and wellbeing
  • represents SLTs through proactive leadership
  • positions the RCSLT as both a trusted ally and a respected national leader in health, education, and social care.

The process has already started, with RCSLT Board and Committees sharing their views as well as running a series of strategy workshops.

How you can get involved

Over the next few months, you may have an opportunity to hear directly from a member of the RCSLT staff and share your opinions at a meeting or event where they will talk in more detail about the process so far and provide updates.

We’re also running a survey across the next three months to allow as many RCSLT members as possible to share their thoughts and help shape our strategy for the next three years.

The survey has 8 questions in total and we’re encouraging all RCSLT members to share their thoughts by 30 June 2026.

Shape our new strategy

What will we do with your feedback?

As well as giving keen insight into individual needs and perhaps patterns and trends in needs and thoughts in certain settings or areas of practice, we will use your feedback to:

  • test our strategic ambitions practically and determine what can realistically be achieved
  • shape priorities in education and for workforce areas
  • make sure partnership working is established
  • strengthen our evidence base and to underpin the final shape of the strategy.

We’re looking forward to hearing your thoughts and working together to strengthen and support the profession for many years to come.
