Invite your MP to attend a Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA) parliamentary event at Westminster on Wednesday 11 March 2026.
We are calling on speech and language therapists, and anyone interested in dementia, to take part in an e-action to support a key parliamentary event on Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA), taking place on Wednesday 11 March in the House of Commons at Westminster.
Sponsored by Helen Maguire MP, this event, being hosted by Dyscover, the specialist aphasia charity, and the RCSLT, is a critical opportunity to raise political awareness of PPA and strengthen national and local support for the people with the condition.
Why your action matters
PPA is a rare, language-led dementia that begins with progressive language impairment and advances to affect speech, communication, personality, and behaviour.
Currently, access to specialist PPA services remains inconsistent, with significant variation in referral pathways and commissioning across the UK.
The e-action enables people to directly contact their MP to ask them to attend the event.
Your Voice is Key
MPs are far more likely to respond to personal stories, and you are encouraged to adapt your email to include:
- Your professional experience supporting people with PPA
- Local challenges in referral and access
- Commissioning gaps
- Impact on patients and families
- Service pressures and workforce limitations
This is a practical opportunity for you to help shape policy, influence support for services, and strengthen recognition of speech and language therapy within rare dementia care.
