Alex is a clinical-academic Speech and Language Therapist at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. She specialises in eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties in children. She completed a PhD in 2025, which investigated feeding and swallowing difficulties in oesophageal atresia.
Her research interests are wide and varied, including developing assessment tools, outcome measurement and the psychosocial impact of eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties. She has published a number of papers on these topics and presented both nationally and internationally. She enjoys supervising and teaching. She is currently chair of the London Paediatric Dysphagia Clinical Excellence Network and has contributed to a number of guideline working groups.
She is the joint lead author of the RCSLT's position paper on High Resolution Manometry.
