Coming soon: our new, member-exclusive continuing professional development (CPD) online tool, the CPD Portfolio
The new CPD Portfolio is coming in late October 2026. It will be replacing the CPD Diary, so if you are an existing CPD Diary user please have a look at our information about how to transition to the new platform.
You won’t be able to add new entries to the CPD Diary after Wednesday 23 September, but you will be able to read and download your data.

Webinar
Please join us for the free CPD Portfolio webinar on 5 November 2026. This event will be available as a recording later.
What can the CPD Portfolio do for you?
The CPD Portfolio is RCSLT’s new online tool tailored to the career needs and ambitions of SLTs, making it much easier to organise evidence and plan your next steps at every stage of your career. As an SLT, you know that continuing professional development (CPD) and lifelong learning are essential. Building up your experience and skills lets you deliver the best care and find satisfaction in your role.
RCSLT’s CPD Portfolio helps you take control of your CPD activity and make progress towards goals. By bringing together planning, reflection and evidence in one place, you can visualise where you are in your career, recognise what you have achieved and identify areas to develop.
It stays with you when you move jobs, and lets you manage your CPD even if you hold multiple roles. It works across any sector or setting, and is equally useful for employed and independent SLTs.
Record, reflect, review
Our online tool is a practical career development tool helping members throughout your professional journey. It’s been designed with user experience as a priority, and you can use it on mobile devices as well as computers. You can:
- log your evidence
- reflect on your achievements
- create a visual overview to support reflection and supervisions
- build up your skills
- plan your future CPD activities.
Get organised and ready for audit
Capturing evidence of courses, networking activities and achievements as you go helps you demonstrate that you meet the standards of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). And if you are one of those randomly selected for the biennial HCPC audit, you’ll find having all your evidence already organised makes everything much easier.
Track your professional competencies
The RCSLT Professional Development Framework is built into the CPD Portfolio, enabling you to map your progress more easily and set yourself development goals.
Other built-in professional frameworks support the following processes:
- Newly Qualified Practitioner (NQP) CPD goals process
- Overseas Qualified Practitioner process
- Foundation-level Eating, Drinking and Swallowing competencies
Any RCSLT member can use the CPD Portfolio, and it’s all on a single log-in. After it’s launched, you will just use your member details to login to the RCSLT website, open your member dashboard and follow the link. Full information and support is given at every step.
This information for existing CPD Diary users as well as those currently working on goals offline.

Moving your records over from the CPD Diary
The CPD Diary will be no longer be editable after Wednesday, 23 September. This will allow us to transition to the new CPD Portfolio in late October. During this time you won’t be able to add new records, or, if you are an NQP, have goals approved by your supervisor.
Certified RCSLT members
If you’re an existing CPD Diary user, after the new platform launches you will be able to log into the RCSLT website, follow the link from your user dashboard and start using the CPD Portfolio straight away.
You can retain all your records from the CPD Diary by downloading and storing them. You can save these files on the new platform. You will be able to do this any time right up until May 2028.
NQPs on the way to certified member status
There are two groups of NQPs, depending on when they began working on their goals. These are:
- NQPs who were already using the CPD Diary before May 2026. They will be automatically transitioned to the CPD Portfolio, including the status of which goals have been approved and which are still in progress. Please note that diary records and attachments (such as certificates) won’t be automatically taken across to the new tool.
- NQPs who began working on their goals after 1 May 2026 have been recording their work offline. When the new CPD Portfolio launches, they can begin adding their records to the online platform, and supervisors will be able to sign off goals.
All NQPs can log in to visit our information about NQP goals and careers.
EDS and OQP goals
This section is about SLTs who are working on eating, drinking and swallowing (EDS) competencies, and overseas qualified practitioners (OQP) working towards UK certification. There are two groups, depending on when they began working on their goals. These are:
- Currently working offline. If you are currently working on your EDS competencies, or you are an OQP working towards UK certification, you are working on a offline or paper-based system. You’ll need to continue working in this way until you complete your goals.
- Starting work on their goals from autumn 2026. When the CPD Portfolio is launched in October, new candidates will be able to access the EDS and OQP frameworks, record goals and get supervisor sign-off on the online platform.
