Have your say on our high-resolution manometry consultation

25 April 2025

The RCSLT has been developing new guidance to support the usage of pharyngeal high- resolution manometry as part of speech and language therapy practice. The tool has only been adopted in the UK relatively recently, and the new guidance will help collate best practice, identify workforce requirements and define and promote the SLT role within this growing area.

High resolution manometry is an instrumental assessment and biofeedback tool that can be used with adults and children.  It produces numerical figures on pressures and bolus flow which can be compared to normative values.

We’re especially keen to receive feedback from any members working with service users with eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties and have experience of instrumental assessments. The consultation will run from Friday 25 April – 16 May.
