Have your say on our updated NQP goals process

3 December 2024

RCSLT is seeking views from our members on new guidance to support NQPs and others transition into the speech and language therapy workforce.

RCSLT has been working with our members to review the current NQP goals process to ensure there is a contemporary offer to support newly qualified speech and language therapists as they transition into the workforce. This follows on from work to co-create, publish and launch the Professional Development Framework in March 2023.

Thank you to everyone who has joined recent events and provided feedback throughout this process. Your views have been analysed and included throughout the development of the new guidance which is now available for further review.

The draft guidance, RCSLT Professional Transitions Guidance: structured support for newly qualified practitioners and other career transitions, is in two sections. Section one is focused on the RCSLT NQP goals process and section two looks at support for broader career transitions.

The consultation is open to all, but we are especially keen to have input from SLTs at all stages of their careers, those who manage SLTs, speech and language therapy students, and those looking to transition into an SLT career.

Please note that the updated goals process will not be implemented immediately after consultation. We are looking at a long lead in time to ensure that members and stakeholders have time to adapt to the changes. During this period we will use all our communication channels to ensure that all stakeholders know what’s changing and when.

Please read the document and complete the anonymous consultation survey by Friday 10 January 2025 to provide your feedback.
