Further information on healthcare apprenticeships from Skills for Health

On 17th July we were delighted to be joined by 50 speech and language therapists, Skills for Health and the Institute for Apprenticeships at our joint RCSLT and 2gether NHS Trust workshop on the development of an SLT apprenticeship.

The presentations from the event are available here.

The next stage will be to form a trailblazer group to take forward development and we are pleased to say there was significant interest shown on the day in taking it forward. If you are interested in keeping in touch with developments please register your interest at healthcare.trailblazer@skillsforhealth.org.uk

Calling small employers to get involved in developing SLT apprenticeships

We are also looking for representatives from 2 SLT teams from small to medium sized organisations (with approx. 10-50 employees) to join the SLT apprenticeship trailblazer group. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the development of an SLT degree apprenticeship and ensure it meets the needs of SLT private practices as well as large organisations, predominantly NHS Trusts.

The role of the trailblazer group is to develop a degree apprenticeship standard specifically for SLT. Work is likely to start around the turn of the year with occasional virtual discussion during early autumn. Small employers can access funding for travel expenses to trailblazer meetings from the Institute for Apprenticeships. Get in touch with Berenice.napier@rcslt.org for more information or register your interest at Healthcare.trailblazer@skillsforhealth.org.uk making clear you are a small business.
