We’re excited to announce that the RCSLT will be marching in the Manchester Village Pride parade this August and we’re inviting you to join us
The parade will take place on Saturday 29 August from 12pm and is a great opportunity for our LGBTQIA+ members and supporters to join us in showing solidarity and support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Pride is both a vibrant celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community and a powerful moment to highlight the inequalities that still exist. This year’s theme at Manchester Village Pride – No Place Like Home, highlights the importance of belonging, while recognising that “home” is not yet a safe place for everyone.
Whilst many speech and language therapists are a part of the LGBTQIA+ community themselves, SLTs also play an important role in supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals. Many work directly with transgender and gender-diverse people through voice and communication therapy, supporting them to develop a voice and communication style that aligns with their identity and helps them express themselves confidently.
Our involvement reflects our commitment to Equity, Diversity and Belonging (EDB), standing with LGBTQIA+ members and service users and championing inclusion across our profession. Please join us as we continue working towards a future where everyone can truly feel they belong.
We welcome members of the SLT Pride Network, the LGBTQIA+ community and allies so whether you’re coming alone, as a group or with friends, we’d love to have you.
To join us or find out more, please complete this form by Wednesday 5 August. Please note, places are limited and are allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
