New Bulletin spring issue out now

9 April 2026

The latest issue of Bulletin explores frailty and the SLT role in health and resilienceHow are health, ageing and care shaping the provision of services?

In this issue of Bulletin, we focus on strengthening clinical guidance and advancing research to support the delivery of effective, evidence-based care for people with frailty, ultimately improving patient outcomes.

In our cover feature we explore how healthcare systems are redesigning their services to keep up with the needs of an ageing population. We look at the roles of SLTs within this emerging specialism, share powerful service-user stories, and highlight the impact of rapid response speech and language therapy.

You can also read our alphabetical guide to support the fundamentals of working with people with frailty, including eating, drinking and swallowing needs. Other features include an in-depth quality improvement project on timely nutrition and hydration decision-making in a busy acute stroke unit.

A review of one NHS trust’s paediatric hearing services found that nearly 70 children with hearing loss had been missed by the newborn hearing screening programme. We look at the role of specialist SLTs in supporting children and bettering these services.

Also in this issue, we look at the latest insights on cognitive communication disorder, and new guidance coming soon.
