We’ve updated our information on overseas-qualified practitioner goals to ensure they align with our updated NQP goals
Our updated competency-based framework is for those speech and language therapists who qualified abroad and do not qualify for the mutual recognition agreement (MRA).
The updated framework outlines the standards, procedures and guidance for overseas-qualified speech and language therapists transitioning to full membership in the UK. The framework will help OQPs to:
- understand their UK work setting and how it affects practice
- build a supervised case portfolio to support independent decision making
- strengthen the skills needed for fully independent practice.
The updated framework came into effect from 1 August 2026.
