The position statement sets out how speech and language therapists can support children and young people attending their services
Our position statement on the role of speech and language therapists in supporting gender questioning, gender diverse or trans children and young people is now available.
The downloadable position statement and accompanying web-based information feature in the clinical guidance section of our website. The information has been designed to support the practice of our members, who may be working in either generalised or specialist settings while supporting children and young people.
This work has been created through the request of RCSLT members working in the field, some of whom attended an RCSLT hosted event to discuss how best to support children and young people who are gender questioning, gender diverse or trans who were seeking support from speech and language therapy.
Written by a group of professionals as a consensus statement, the statement aims to help members share information about the role speech and language therapy can play in supporting children and young people to communicate with confidence.
Both the position statement and the accompanying information are publicly available.
