We are delighted to announce that our new Director of Membership and Communications Dr Jennie Evans started at the RCSLT on 7 September
Dr Jennie Evans comes to us from the British Society for Immunology (BSI) where she worked for 12 years, the past eight as Director of External Affairs. In her role at the BSI she oversaw a broad portfolio, including membership engagement, communications, education and careers, partnership working, public affairs, and patient/public involvement.
Jennie has spent much of her career working in health and science professional societies, where she has had a strong focus on membership engagement. She started her career at the Society for Endocrinology, managing their communications and engagement work, as well as working for their trading company Bioscientifica, which supplies management services to a broad range of professional societies.
Jennie has also been part of the Science Media Centre advisory group, providing specialist expertise on the complex issues they handle around science and the media.
RCSLT CEO Steve Jamieson said: ‘‘I am delighted to welcome Dr Jennie Evans to the RCSLT as our new Director of Membership and Communications. Jennie joins us at an important and exciting time as we develop our new three-year strategy and continue to strengthen how we engage with, listen to and support our members across the UK. She brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role, and I know she will make a significant contribution to our Executive Team and to the wider organisation. I am very much looking forward to working with Jennie as we build an even stronger relationship with our members and ensure their voices remain at the heart of everything we do.’’
Jennie said: ‘‘I’m thrilled to be taking up my new position at the RCSLT and to be part of working for and representing such a special profession. I’m looking forward to working with my new colleagues to communicate the important work that speech and language therapists do and to ensuring our members feel supported throughout their careers. I also look forward to meeting and speaking with our members from all sectors of the profession and hearing directly from them about what they need and value most from their membership.’’
