Annabelle Burns currently works as Head of Integration at Homerton Hospital, representing acute and community health services within City and Hackney during the transition towards more joined-up, preventative, neighbourhood-centred working.
She is passionate about reducing health inequalities, enabling partnership working and addressing the social determinants of health for all. Annabelle is a paediatric speech and language therapist by background, with a strong foundation of clinical experience working with children and families in a variety of educational and health settings, including Sure Start. She also has strategic and operational management experience and previously managed the paediatric SLT service in Hackney. Her area of expertise is Early Years, she has written national guidance (e.g., practitioner guidance for the Every Child a Talker initiative) and published research.
Annabelle is currently studying for an MSc and Level 7 Apprenticeship in Systems Thinking and Leadership at the University of Birmingham. She is also a proud community member and resident of Hackney, a trustee for several local charities, and a Freedom to Speak Up Champion for her organisation.
