The RCSLT has developed a dataset to support the speech and language therapy profession with capturing data on people with long COVID who have speech and language therapy needs.

The dataset has been designed to facilitate the collection of data that will support individual speech and language therapists, speech and language therapy services, and the wider profession with delivering high quality speech and language therapy, building the evidence base, demonstrating the impact of speech and language therapy and supporting a data-driven approach to service delivery.

The dataset includes fields related to patient demographics, presentation, management and outcomes, using Therapy Outcome Measures (Enderby and John, 2019).

Speech and language therapy services may decide to collect and analyse the data at a local level only. Alternatively, services can opt to submit their data online for this to be collated at a national level as part of a national project via the ROOT. More information can be found in the information pack (PDF) and in this short video.

If you have any feedback or questions, please contact ROOT@rcslt.org.

Acknowledgements: We would like to thank the members of the long COVID data task and finish group for their work in developing and piloting the dataset and the supporting resources.
