There are several exciting opportunities to be a part of developing simulation and technology enhanced learning resources for pre-registration eating, drinking and swallowing (EDS) competencies.

The RCSLT, in conjunction with Health Education England (HEE), is developing resources to support pre-registration learners in achieving sign off for the pre-registration EDS competencies (PDF).

We are currently recruiting students; SLTs interested in simulation and technology enhanced learning; and SLTs with service users to participate in some video case studies.

These resources use simulation and/or technology enhanced learning to support learners. They provide an excellent opportunity to become involved with the pre-registration EDS competencies within a digital framework.  The resources will be available to use across the UK.

There are three key areas where you can get involved:
  • Simulation working group – this project’s aim is to design content for simulation and technology enhanced learning, focusing on its practical use within Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and on placements.
  • Learner (student) working group – a team of first-year students will give their perspectives on the new EDS competencies.
  • Video case studies – we will be making several video case studies of people with EDS difficulties to feature in an e-learning module.

This call-out comes as a part of the RCSLT’s ongoing work to reform the way pre-registration EDS competencies are currently being taught.

There are numerous benefits to getting involved with the RCSLT including – taking your learning to a new level, expanding on your CV, networking with SLTs from different parts of the UK and making a difference in the future of the profession.

Our recruitment page for the working groups has more information on each opportunity and details on how to apply.
