Health Education England (HEE) has tasked all allied health professional (AHP) bodies to deliver a wide-ranging programme of work to support a 21st century workforce over the next year.

The RCSLT has been planning how best to deliver this work over the last few months, and with a small team in place, is now starting to deliver this exciting project. Read more about the work as a whole and meet the team.

The different pieces of work are all-encompassing, varying in size, complexity and focus. One of the largest and most significant to the profession is to deliver an overarching capability framework.

Capabilities are the new competencies. Once the overarching profession-wide framework is in place, specialities can then align their frameworks against it to ensure consistency of professional function, both within speech and language therapy and to speak to other recognised frameworks (for example, the advanced practice four pillars of practice).

We will be holding several online discussion events in June and July this year to facilitate the co-creation of this important framework. More information is available on our project page.

We will be reaching out to all of you to ask for your input, thoughts and engagement with all areas of work. Register your interest to receive updates about it and to find out more about the different areas.
